A ball winding tip

Here’s a great tip I picked up at my weaving class last week.

I needed to wind 4 x strands of lace weight merino on to my stick shuttle from 2 small and rather loosely wound balls.  How could I wind off 2 more balls without them ending up so tiny that they’d collapse into a mess of lacy knots?

Tip: fold a small strip of paper around the winder cone and use a bit of sellotape to keep the paper tube in place.

This is the result.

Sliding these ‘mini merinos’ off the ball winder gave me a surprising amount of pleasure!
